Growing up in small town NY where the biggest boast is that there are more cows than people, JD was drawn into works of fantasy as an escape from everyday life. As a child, he would play “The Princess Bride”, taking on the roles of Westley, Fezzik and Inigo Montoya as he ran through the fields and forests yelling out all the famous lines like, "anybody want a peanut?"
Over time, that playing became internalized, and as he discovered series from authors such as Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman and J.K. Rowling, his adventures began to transform and mature bringing in elements from all of his influences. JD's imagination couldn't be limited or contained, and he began jotting down outlines of characters and places from his adventures. He would share these outlines with his brother and discuss the different aspects of the world and its people, and these conversations would bring him so much excitement that he
decided to write a short story. That short story, however, went took on a life of its own and ended up being a novel.
JD works in inventory control, but his priority is helping to raise two teenagers with his fiance. Being an active parent in their academic lives and chasing the bus around to watch their soccer and baseball games, wrestling matches and track meets, has given him a different perspective and led him to steal many of those elements to use in his book.
JD enjoys the creativity of cooking, where he somehow convinces his friends and family to participate in his experiments that he so lovingly refers to as "tasty adventures." Even though it's looking doubtful, he holds out hope that one day his beard will finally fill in.
